Mathyolweni Rest Camp - Addo Elephant National Park
Hidden away in the thick bushveld of the Park, one can find Mathyolweni Rest camp, a satellite camp located in the new southern wedge near the small town of Colchester. Offering peace and tranquility far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The name Mathyolweni means "in the bush" in the Xhosa language. Mathyolweni Rest camp presents a broad variety of game viewing and outdoor activities, including horse-riding, guided bush walks, game drives, 4x4 trails and serene picnic spots. Nothing could be better if you are a bush lover.
Guests can enjoy game viewing from their own vehicle as they journey through prime Wildlife country with a number of lookout points at various waterholes in the region. They can also participate in the guided game drives in open vehicles by day, at sunset or by night, which is the time when the Buffalo and black Rhino are most often sighted. For the not so feint hearted, one can embark on a walking trail into the heart of the Elephant country with experienced guides.
