Addo Main Camp – Addo Elephant National Park

Addo Camp is the popular main rest camp in the Addo Elephant Park. This camp offers a wide variety of accommodation units to suit all tastes and plenty of activities to keep visitors busy.A unique feature at the Addo Camp is the waterhole lookout point which is floodlit at night and the underground hide, allowing close encounters with wildlife at the waterhole.The evenings punctuated with the calls of lions, spotted hyenas and jackals while francolins and bokmakieries herald each dawn.Accommodation units are situated within easy walking distance of each other and of facilities such as the swimming pool, restaurant and shop.

Gate Hours:
  • Check in time is 14:00 for all accommodation.
  • Check out time is 10:00 for all accommodation.
  • Check out time for campsites is 12:00.
Office and Gate Hours:
  • Main camp reception is open from 07:00 to 19:00 daily
Facilities:
  • A fuel station is available between 07:00 and 17:00.
  • A shop selling curios, snacks and basic supplies is available at the Main Camp
  • An al-la-carte restaurant is available in the main camp and is open for all meals from 07:00 to 22:00.

  • A swimming pool is available for overnight visitors.
  • A picnic and braai area are available for day visitors.
  • The SASOL Red Bishop Bird Hide and The PPC Discovery Trail are accessible to all, also the visually and mobility impaired.
Take Note:
  • Pets are not allowed in national parks.
  • Firearms to be declared at reception where they will be sealed, seal will be broken upon departure.
  • No citrus fruits may be brought into the park.
  • Medical, vehicle repair and police services are available at Addo Village and Sunlands (15km).
  • Hot days at waterholes are best for elephant viewing.
  • Outdoor lighting in camps is limited, therefore a torch/headlamp is required when walking outside at night.
  • Insect repellent is recommended, especially in summer.
  • No immunisations are needed for travel to the park as it is situated in a malaria-free area.
  • A road map of tourist routes within the park will be given to each vehicle upon entering the Park
